NCEdCloud Amplify — Accessing Amplify Reading and ELA Tools Through NCEdCloud
How NCEdCloud Connects to Amplify?
NCEdCloud Amplify is a K-12 literacy and science curriculum platform used by select North Carolina school districts for reading assessment, ELA instruction, and science curriculum delivery. Districts that have licensed Amplify and configured it in NCEdCloud provide a tile on the dashboard so users can access Amplify without a separate login.
NCDPI’s RapidIdentity platform handles the SAML SSO authentication handoff. This applies to students and teachers in districts that have purchased Amplify products. The most important thing to know is that Amplify access through NCEdCloud is district-licensed — if your district does not use Amplify, no tile will appear, and access is not available through NCEdCloud.
How to Access Amplify Through NCEdCloud?
- Log in to ncedcloud.mcnc.org with your NCEdCloud username and password.
- On the dashboard, look for a tile labeled “Amplify,” “Amplify Reading,” “mCLASS,” or the specific Amplify product your district uses.
- Click the tile. NCEdCloud passes your identity to Amplify via SAML.
- Amplify loads and signs you in to your district account.
Teachers land on the teacher dashboard with class management and data views. Students land on their assigned activities and assessments.
Amplify Products Accessible Through NCEdCloud
| Product | Audience | Purpose |
| Amplify Reading | Students (K-5 primary) | Adaptive ELA instruction |
| mCLASS | Teachers | Reading assessment and data |
| Amplify Science | Students and teachers | K-8 science curriculum |
| Amplify ELA | Students and teachers (6-8) | Middle school ELA instruction |
Not all districts license all Amplify products. Your tile label and the interface you see after clicking depend on which Amplify subscriptions your district has active.
Why Your Amplify Tile May Be Missing?

| Newly claimed account — sync pending | Wait 24 to 48 hours |
| Amplify account not yet provisioned | Contact IT — some districts provision Amplify separately |
Common Amplify SSO Issues

| Amplify loads but shows no students | Roster sync pending — wait 24 hours or contact IT |
| “Account not found” in Amplify | Your NCEdCloud account is not linked to an Amplify account — contact IT |
| Assessment data missing | Data may be in a different Amplify product (mCLASS vs. Reading) |
| Amplify tile is present, but gives an error | Try an incognito window; contact the help desk if the error persists |
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a separate Amplify login if I access it through NCEdCloud?
No. Clicking the NCEdCloud tile signs you in via SSO. You do not need a separate Amplify username or password. If Amplify asks you to log in separately after clicking the tile, the SSO configuration has an issue — contact your LEA help desk.
Can students access Amplify from home through NCEdCloud?
Yes. Students can log in to ncedcloud.mcnc.org from any internet-connected device and click the Amplify tile. The SSO works the same from home as at school. Amplify products that include offline or app-based access may have separate instructions — check with your teacher.
The Amplify tile works, but my students’ mCLASS data is not showing. What should I do?
mCLASS data appears after assessments are entered or synced. If you have recently completed assessments but the data is missing, contact your instructional technology coordinator. There may be a school-level sync or data upload step required.
Which districts in North Carolina use Amplify through NCEdCloud?
District application choices vary widely. Contact your district’s instructional technology department to confirm which Amplify products are active. Your LEA Administrator manages the NCEdCloud application catalog for your district.
My Amplify tile shows the wrong grade level for a student. Who fixes that?
Grade level data in Amplify comes from the roster sync, which originates from PowerSchool or your district SIS via NCEdCloud. If a student’s grade level is wrong in Amplify, the fix starts in the SIS. Contact your IT coordinator or registrar to correct the enrollment record.
